Inpatient Care - Acute & Skilled Nursing Care
PCMC is a 17-bed acute care hospital, but it is also able to treat patients who may require longer care or inpatient rehabilitation. Dr. Dane Simons is Medical Director of the hospital. Sherry King is Director of Nursing.
24-Hour Emergency Room
For those emergency situations, the hospital is available 24 hours a day. Dr. William Crowley is the director of the Emergency Room.
Laboratory
The lab is open from 8-5 for outpatient lab work. Any routine tests as well as pre-surgical testing can be administered here. 24-hour lab work is available for emergency care and inpatient care. Dr. Richard Johnston is the consultant pathologist of the laboratory, and Holly Claybourn, Laboratory Technologist, is laboratory supervisor. The Lab recently received the COLA highest commendation award, The Laboatory Excellence Award for 2007-2008. Congratulations!
Radiology
PCMC is excited to be the first Matagorda County hospital to be using digital radiography. Patients no longer have to carry around the large Xray films to their doctor, but instead, they will be given a CD for the doctor to view. Also, generally the results of the radiographs are available the same day as the test. CT scan will be available in January 2008. Loretta Kelley, Radiologist Technologist, is the Radiology supervisor. Outpatient services are available 8-5, Monday through Friday, while 24-hour services are available for inpatient and emergency care.
Pharmacy
The pharmacy is an In-hospital department, available for inpatients or emergency patients. Cindi Young, Pharmacy Tech, is Pharmacy supervisor.
Physical Therapy
A full service therapy department is available within the hospital for both inpatient and outpatient services. Referrals are accepted from all physicians. Diagnoses treated include neck and back injuries, total knee or shoulder replacements, wound care, and other musculoskeletal problems. Eddie Teague, P.T. is the department supervisor. Hours are 8-5.
